Will There Be a 4th Movie After Glass? Here's What We Know (and Don't)

The Unbreakable Trilogy: A Quick Recap

Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s take a look at the road that led here. The so-called Unbreakable trilogyUnbreakable (2000), Split (2016), and Glass (2019) — is M. Night Shyamalan’s grounded take on superheroes, with a heavy psychological twist.

Unbreakable introduced us to David Dunn and Elijah Price — aka Mr. Glass. Split shocked audiences with its surprise connection to the first film via Kevin Wendell Crumb and his 24 personalities (yeah, The Beast still haunts a few dreams). Then came Glass, a crossover that tried to tie everything together.

But did it? That’s... debatable.

Is a Fourth Movie in the Works?

As of now, there’s no official announcement for a fourth film. M. Night Shyamalan himself has stated multiple times that Glass was meant to close the chapter.

“It was always supposed to be a trilogy,” he told Entertainment Weekly in early 2019.
“There’s no plan for another movie.”

Still, never say never, right? Filmmakers have changed their minds before — especially if fan demand (and box office numbers) say otherwise.

The Studio Factor

Glass made around $247 million worldwide on a $20 million budget. That’s a massive profit margin, even by superhero standards. Universal and Blumhouse like money. If there’s a new concept — even a spinoff — they might just greenlight it.

Would Shyamalan be involved, though? Hmm. Hard to say. He’s notoriously protective of his original stories.

Loose Ends That Could Justify a Sequel

Let’s be honest — Glass didn’t exactly wrap everything up with a nice little bow.

  • What happens after the footage leaks? The public now knows superhumans exist. That changes everything.

  • The Clover organization? A secret society eliminating powered people? That subplot felt way undercooked.

  • Casey Cooke, survivor of Split, seemed to be evolving into something more... but we never got to see it.

There’s room for a continuation. Maybe not with David, Kevin, or Elijah (R.I.P., right?), but with new characters in that same universe.

Fans Are Still Asking for More

The trilogy has a cult following. Reddit threads, YouTube essays, fan theories — they keep popping up. People are especially fascinated with how realistic this superhero universe felt. No capes, no alien planets, just... trauma and potential.

Some fans even suggest an origin story for the Clover organization. Others imagine Casey developing powers herself. It’s all speculation, sure — but the hunger is definitely there.

Actually, now that I think of it, imagine a series — not a movie — that picks up after the events of Glass. More grounded, episodic, maybe streaming on something like Apple TV+? (Shyamalan already worked with them on Servant, sooo…)

Final Thoughts... Or Are They?

Right now, all signs point to no fourth movie. But Hollywood's full of surprises. If enough fans keep asking (and the money’s good), that “definitive ending” might just... evolve.

Because come on — we’ve seen stranger twists. And if there’s one thing M. Night loves more than secrecy, it’s a good ol’ twist.
